OMG New Moon! AAAHHH!

Yep thats what Jessica, Lauren, and I kept yelling all day today! And guess what? The movie totally surpassed all my expectaions! It was really good! It was like a bzillion times better than Twilight! Pretty much it rocked my socks off! Plus I only had to pay $6 to see it! Movies are cheaper here.

So its like after 4 in the morning here and I am too tired to write anymore. But I had to let y'all know that New Moon is so fantastic. I loved it!

Plus it has fantasic eye candy! yum!

Loves!

Brittney and Lauren's Disney Shenanigans

Hi all! Today I am not even going to address the fact that I have not blogged in a million years. Lets just forgive and forget.

So today both Lauren (one of my roommates) and I had the day off so we planned to go to Epcot and try some food from around the world for the Food and Wine festival that is going on there right now. We got to Epcot around 2 and tried some really great food. My favorites were from Argentina and South Africa. Oh yeah and the dessert from Australia was super good too! It was called "Lamington" which I though was funny. Then we went to character spot in future world to meet some characters. Now meeting characters isn't my favorite pass-time, but we had a lot of laughs and good times. We met Mickey, Pluto, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. Goofy is Lauren favorite character so she totally flipped when we saw him and Goofy was super cute and hugged her and didn't want us to leave. Then we went outside and saw Chip and Dale and they were so funny. I was in the middle of a chipmunk sandwich and it was really funny! Hopefully the pictures turned out! Then we went into innoventions and rode segways! It was a lot harder than I expected it to be! You control it with your feet and put pressure on your toes to go forward and on your heels to slow and stop. After that we visited my store and decided to grab some birthday buttons and wear them around for the rest of the day.

We then decided to head over to Magic Kingdom and hang out there for a while. The first thing we did was head over into adventureland and get a Pineapple Dole Whip because they are super delicious! And guess what? Since we were wearing our birthday buttons we got them for FREE! I feel kinda bad since it wasn't actually our birthdays, but we didn't ask for it for free...they just gave it to us. Then we tried to visit Jessica in Fantasyland, but she wasn't around so we headed over to ride Buzz and Lauren and I almost tied scores. Then we watched Spectro...its a parade that might be kinda similar to the main street electrical parade back in the day. It is a cute parade, but not anywhere near as cool as the Halloween Boo to You parade which I love. Then we did visit Jess and bugged her. We also rode the Tea Cups and that was our first time since we have been down here because no one else would go with us! After that we just took crazy picture because we were trying to hang around until Jessica got off work so we could give her a ride home. The pics we took were so funny and after Lauren puts them on Facebook I will try to post some here! To end our night we walked out in the rain had to wait in a super long line for the monorail, but overall good times were had!

Well I've got to go to sleep, but I love and miss you people! Good night!

Unseasonably

So Florida is so freakin' hot right now! I mean seriously people were coming into my store literally drenched in sweat! Gross! Its been at least 95 degrees here for the past several days which is, in all senses of the word, not cool. Another not cool thing is that I am still sick. I can handle being sick, even though its not fun. I just don't like having to work long, hot shifts while I'm sick and having to smile and answer the same questions 300 times a day. Ok enough complaining.

So as I think I have mentioned before, I work out in the stroller section a lot. The only fun part about this is when there are people to talk to out there, like sometimes there are 2 people in strollers at the same time and if its a cool person then its fun. Or if there are cool people working at the entrance/exit gates. One of these people at the gates, her name is Gresa and she is really nice and fun to talk to. We end up working a lot of the same shifts because she is and ICP and I'm a CP and us CPs of all types close a lot. (someone once told me that CP stands for "close parks" ha ha). Anywho she is from Kosovo which just recently gained independence from a few other countries and is in southern Europe, kinda close to Greece. The point of this paragraph is that someday after our CP ends she invited me to visit her in Kosovo which, apart from being a place I didn't really know existed until I met her, is somewhere I would love to see. This is my most favorite part of doing the CP. (not getting invited to visit friends in exotic locales, but that is definitely cool) I get to meet a ton of super cool, friendly and different people every single day. Most of the people I meet are doing the same exact thing as me so we're all in the same boat and it's easy to relate to each other. I get invited to a lot more things here than I ever did back home and that is cool.

This week I have read two AMAZING books. Well they are amazing in my opinion. And technically I have 20 pages left in one of them, but I think I will still love it even when it ends. So the first one is called "Ruined: A Ghost Story" by Paula Morris. It is set in present day New Orleans where this girl is sent to live with her "Aunt" while her dad is on a prolonged business trip. I loved this book because there is so much intrigue, history, and just a touch of good old fashioned Gothic drama (Gothic the art and literature genre, not black make-up and clothes). Plus there may or may not be ghosts, voodoo, murder, magic, curses, and a big, giant twist that I didn't see coming in this book. Read it people! The second book is called "Dreaming Anastasia" by Joy Preble. This book is, well not a retelling, I guess an expounding story of Anastasia and is set in the present day Chicago and in the past with the Romanov's. I like that the author tells the story from 3 different perspectives which keeps the reader interested, even though the story is complex and fast paced and compelling anyways. I enjoyed the twists and turns, and the different forms of magic in this book. And it doesn't hurt that Ethan, one of the main characters, is quite attractive. :) Now, however, I am out of reading materials so I would love any recommends that people have.

Well I am going to hit the sack now. I love eveyone! I can't wait to see you Mom and family who are coming in 5 days! I am so excited! See ya real soon! Miss you all!

Even if it kills me

I am going to publish a blog today! Before work!! But after I shower...be back in a few!

See wasn't that quick? ;)

So down here Disney pretty much owns my life. I work a ton and then if I'm not working I have this strange urge to go play in the parks, as if I don't get enough time at Disney. It must be something in the water. Speaking of something in the water, about half of the CPs are sick here. All 3 of my roommates were, and now I am kinda sick. So is Lili who I work with, she's a CP. And so was Diego who I also work with, he's an ICP (International College Program). So yeah, that's no fun. I guess that's what we get for living so close with all the CPs and riding the buses with them and such. Enough about that.

I got the new Paramore CD this week and it is amazing, but I really expected nothing less from them. I don't think that they will have any songs on the New Moon soundtrack like they did on the Twilight one, but Mom if you read this you should maybe listen to a couple of their songs on the CD because I know you liked their other ones. Listen to "The Only Exception" for sure!

Another pop culture item of business. I have been watching the new TV show "The Vampire Diaries" and I really like it. I'm not sure if the story line is really that gripping or if I like it because every single guy in the show is worth watching for an hour. :) Not to mention, whoever picks the soundtrack has great taste in music. I would listen to every song they chose. Last night Jessica and I watched a couple of the episodes and had an all around fun girls night in.

So I work tonight, then I have 2 days off! Yay! Only then I work 9 days in a row until family comes to visit...just warning you guys I might be kinda tired when you get here. Oh PS on the 15th I work 12:30 to 9 so I don't know If I'll be able to pick you up, only I do have to be there when you check in...what time does the flight get in again? We'll work it out somehow :)

Much love to everyone! I miss you guys so much! I hope you're enjoying the cool weather! Loves!

I Know...

I know I haven't blogged in a while...I am ashamed of myself. It's just that whenever I go to blog I just can't think of anything interesting enough to write about. And if it doesn't hold even my interest to write, I can't imagine it would hold your interest to read.

So to keep this short I am going to just share one tiny bit of information that I found out tonight...there is a very, very good possibility that there is going to be a movie version of "The Host". This is one of my all time favorite books, and I have been itching to read it lately, but alas I forgot my copy at home :( However I am taking my great desire to read it as a premonition that I knew something cool was going to happen with that book. So voila! I am psychic now :)

If you don't believe me about "The Host Movie" just go ahead and check out Ms. Meyer's webpage. It's right at the top :)

I love and miss each and every one of you at home! Loves!

Insert Clever Title Here

Just kidding...I just have no clever title for today. In fact I'm not sure I have anything clever to write about even.

So this particular post has been in progress for days. I just keep opening it up and then getting sidetracked or just can't think of anything to write.

Wednesday Sept. 1
Today was a day off for me so I went shopping :) I had to get a present for the twinners for their birthday next week. I thought that it would be super easy to find a present for them at disney, but it was surprisingly difficult. I guess because I was under money constraint and I had to keep in mind that I will have to ship their presents home. Hopefully I found things that they will love! Then I went to Barnes & Noble because I was going to pick up a copy of Catching Fire which came out yesterday. If you don't know, its the sequel to the Hunger Games. These books are very fabulous! However while I was there I couldn't comvince myself to buy anything. The main reason is that I have so many books that I brought to read while I'm here that I couldn't justify buying a book that I have already read. (Yes I have already read Catching Fire even though it just came out because I got to read the Advanced Reader Copy when I worked at Barnes & Noble) So I left Barnes & Noble without buying anything! Quite a feat for me! :) And then I came home and just vegged for a while until my roommates Amanda and Lauren came home and invited me to go to the cast preview of Mickey's Boo To You Parade. It was a lot of fun because we got to watch the parade at night with a whole bunch of other Disney nuts in the Magic Kingdom after hours! And the parade is awesome! There are these cool gravedigger dancers that were so creepy looking and they danced with shovels and when they hit the shovels on the asphalt it created sparks! And there were pirates and villains and all sorts of creepy people! If you get a chance you should see this parade! Oh and there is a headless horseman who rides in front of the parade! So cool! So family, you need to come down in October to watch it!

Thursday Sept. 2nd
Today Jessica and I had a day off together for the first time since we started working! We woke up kinda early...ok not early but at like 8 but we got home after 1 a.m. because of the parade preview last night! So we went to Animal Kingdom first because Jessica has never been there before. We ran over to Everest first and there was no line at all! Then we went over to Dinosaur! Jessica screamed and it was quite funny! lol! Then we went on Kilimanjaro Safaris. There was a super cute giraffe that just stood by the road and practically posed for us! Then it was off to meet our new friend Mary who was "hanging out" with Daisy at Camp Minnie Mickey. It was so fun to see her working! Then we went to Blizzard Beach! It was like a bigger and more fun Seven Peaks! I quite enjoyed it. Then we went to Magic Kingdom. It seems that we always end up there! But I like that place so I'm not complaining. We ate at Tony's restaurant and it was quite delicious. And then it was home to bed :)

Today!
Today was a work day...it was actually a long work day! I had to be there at 8 am. Then when I got there one of the coordinators asked me why I hadn't gotten there at 7. I said because nobody asked me to come in early and the schedule said 8. She was a little bit confused I think, but I didn't get in trouble which was good! I had to go to this class today too at 3, and I got payed to go! yay! It was called I can make a difference too! And we learned more about "The Basics" which are basically Disney's behavior expectations for Cast Members. It was actually quite fun, but I had already learned most of it in other classes. I did learn that when you leave a park and re-enter the same or a different park in that same day it doesn't take your fingerprint, which it what I thought they did, but they actually take a bone and shape structure profile of your finger, so essentially a picture of your finger. Interesting huh? My one co-worker said that sometimes when she has shorter fingernails it doesn't want to accept her finger. (she has acrylic nails and they are pretty long). Then I got to go home instead of going back to work! yay! So now here I am at home and after being lazy I got productive, aren't you proud Mom? I am doing laundry while blogging and cleaning my bathroom! yay for a hair-free floor! The only sucky thing is paying to wash my clothes. As if I don't hate doing laundry enough! ;) now I believe I am up to speed! Tomorrow I have a long shift (11:30 to 9 pm, blah!) but its cool because I'll have one hour of overtime!

I am going to head to bed now because I am tired! I hope everyone has a Magical Day! I love you and I miss you!

Milk and Frogs

Of course I am not talking about consuming these things together! Gross! They just happened to be on my mind today!

So today was my first day off in 8 days and it felt really good to be lazy! However I was a kind of productive lazy! I did all my laundry! (2 whole loads, whew!) and I got food that is actually edible. (my milk soured like 4 days before I thought it would! tres gross!) I semi-vacuumed, because my vac doesn't really like carpet. I cleaned the mold out of the toilet and put bleach in it in hopes that the florida humidity mold would not come back! and I located a Barnes & Noble! Oh and I caught (well my roommate Lauren caught, I spotted) a frog in my bedroom! go florida!

These past few days have been really busy and fun! I loved hanging out with Rachel and Kristy while they were here! It was a lot of fun meeting up at the different parks and doing whatever we want! I only wish that we could have gone to the Prime Time Cafe but it was completely booked the couple times we tried for it! I'm sure they would have loved it!

Working at the World Traveler is still good. It's funny how many people come down to where it is and ask how to get to France or what country they are in or what does the big exit sign mean...is it really another exit/entrance to Epcot? I can't count how many times people ask me where the closest bathroom is...at least the trainers prepared me well for those questions. Other questions people ask I've had to be a little creative for like when they ask where they should go first, or if I have any tips for them in the park. All my experience as a guest at Disney has come in handy for these questions! Thanks Mom and Dad!

So mayhap you will notice a list of books to the side --------------->
I was bored today and so I decided to make a list of books that I like at the moment...you guys know me and my books! I miss working in Barnes & Noble because I could stay on top of the books that were coming out and real popular even if I didn't read them myself. I also liked the challenge of working at Barnes & Noble because there were so many things that had to be done everyday and here sometimes I feel like I'm getting paid to stand around. I did have to run wheelchairs to people the other night. One to a girl who had a giant blister on her foot that popped while she was walking so she slipped and like twisted her ankle or something (weird and gross). The other wheelchair was for a girl who had had a seizure and didn't feel like walking all the way to the front of the park. I also miss having good friends that to work with...everyone in my small store is way older than me...well except for this one girl who is pretty nice and a couple years younger than me but I'm not sure if we'll get to be great friends, but who knows.

Well I think that I am caught up to what I am doing at the moment and am now just rambling! Plus I better go to bed so that I can be well rested for work in the morning! I love and miss you all! Ciao!

World Traveling!

So I have to be to work in, like, 2 hours so I decided to blog again. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to it! Things get crazy busy here and when I'm not working, then I'm usually sleeping :) Except the past couple of days because Rachel and Kristy are here and it has been so fun hanging out with them a couple of times! Last night after I got off work we went to Downtown Disney and ate at the T-Rex restaurant. The food was quite delicious. I got this yummy Guac-asaurus Burger and it was pretty big. And Rachel got some Mushroom Ravioli thing that I think she liked. And Kristy got the Cretaceous Chicken Fried Steak. The steak took up her entire plate except for a tiny sliver at the top for the potatoes. It was seriously like a foot long! We all had a good laugh when it came out! I think the waiter thought we were crazy people! Unfortunately Kristy did not like the giant steak that much. But we all loved the Ghiradelli chocolate shakes/ice cream that we got after! I am super glad that Rach and Kristy are here! I love having friends around.
Yesterday was my last day of training! Yay! I didn't like having to train for so long! So now I am an official Cast Memeber. I'm sure I'll still make some mistakes but I'm glad to not have a trainer hovering around me anymore even though my trainers were pretty nice! I like the store that I work in, but sometimes it is really slow and that makes the day go by really slow! Yesterday after my trainer left there was this creep lady who came in trying to get some free sunglasses out of us. She claimed that she had bought them earlier in the day and that we forgot to bag them for her. I asked my manager what to do and she said that if the lady had here receipt then to just give her the glasses because they aren't that expensive. I asked her if she had her receipt, she said no. Did she know what she paid with, no. Did she know around what time she bought it, no. I was running back and forth between this lady and my manager for all these questions and my manager Nicole kept saying how suspicious it sounded. Finally I was asking this lady some more questions and she was like "Well I have to go." and she wasn't even that angry so Nicole thought she was lying about the sunglasses. That part of the day went by really fast! I guess I like the challenge of difficult guests.
Well I have to go finish getting ready for work! I think I might be getting a little homesick because I miss everyone all the time! But I know the cure...everyone that I know and love in Utah should just come down here while I am here! Because I don't think I'm really homesick for Utah, just the people who are there! So anyways, you think about it, ok? I love you! See ya!

A Day in the Life of a WDWCP

Most days you will be extremely tired. Maybe even a little sore, but mostly just tired. Let me tell you why WDW makes you tired. First you are getting up for work at the crack of dawn so you can make your bus on time to get you to work early enough to change, get to your location and clock in, and if you are even 1 minute late you get a point on your record (point=not good.) For example today I woke up at 5:15 so I could be to Disney U at 8. Then immediately following work you might go home and change. Like today I did. Then you'll probably go to one of the various parks here because, hey you get in for free. (its kinda like hanging out at the mall at home only instead of saying "Hey (insert your name here), lets go to the mall!" you say "Hey, lets hang out at MK!" and if you don't eat at the parks then its really cheap!) I did this as well today, only me and Jessica (Hi Jess! Right now you're asleep but hi anyways! wow that sounds kinda creepy and stalker-ish) went to two parks plus walked all over a rather large hotel to find my car. Also you might hang out with your roommate's friend and his roommates and have to try to think of witty comments or fun questions so they don't think you're antisocial or something. I also did this today. The last thing you might have to deal with is the emotional roller-coaster of your family flying back home and missing them terribly. All of these things I did today and now here I am at quarter to 1 in the morning still awake.
I hope that doesn't make it sound like I don't like it here, because I love it! It is super fun! I really enjoy meeting new people and maybe making a few friends. Today I also got invited to go to Epcot with a couple girls from my training class and I wanted to meet up with them but I had other plans already and I feel kinda bad because we said that we should exchange phone numbers but I ended up finishing before them and left before that could happen. I hope they don't think I just ditched out on them because I didn't mean to! I also got invited to go drinking with a couple guys on the bus ride back from training because they were bitter about the role that they had been given. Me and Jessica declined because, well, we don't drink. We tried to help them find a positive spin to their role, but they were just obstinate. They might quit which would be sad for them.
I guess I'll end this rambling post by saying I love and miss you all, unless of course you are here in Florida with me in which case I would just say love ya! :)

Intro to the CP!

Hey everyone who is reading my pithy little blog. I thought that I would start out with an introduction of sorts. I actually started this blog almost a year ago but i decided to edit it into a CP blog, so if it says that this was published in September of last year, well now you know why :) So to start off with I'm Brittney, I am currently 21, and I'm from Utah but I am living in Florida to do the WDWCP. Just in case you don't what that stands for it means "Walt Disney World College Program." Usually people just refer to it by College Program or CP. Anyways I am now all moved into my apartment and i have met all of my roommates. The girl that i share a bedroom with is Jessica from Utah and I got to know her before we came down which was fun! The other 2 girls who live in our apartment are Amanda and Lauren. They seem pretty nice so I think we will have a great time together.
Yesterday I found out what I will be doing while I am here. I will work in Epcot at a store called the World Traveller in the World Showcase. (Just to let you know I LOVE the World Showcase so I believe that this will be an awesome job for me!) Also yesterday I (and everyone just starting their CP) had to do about a ton of paperwork! And I got fingerprinted which was a first for me. Then we had a super long housing meeting that just explained all the rules and codes of the housing what what to do to make sure you don't get kicked out.
Today is a free day for me because I don't actually start working with Disney until tomorrow when I have to take the Traditions class. Traditions is basically just learning about the history of Disney and then how you will be expected to act and behave to carry on Walt Disney's traditions. I've heard that it is long and boring, but I don't really know. Oh and just to let all you people in Utah know I will have to catch a bus for this class at 6:45 am, which is 4:45 in Utah time!
Well I hope that I can learn some interesting things to share with all y'all while I am down here! Talk to you later!
